the missionaries toil in Africa

scraping
in the
base of a
cauldron

collecting
the last bit
of soup scum

wondering
how he will feed
them

adding water
diluting the
nourishment
dropping two three
blocks of stock

hiding and thickening
famine despair
looking at the runway
staring into the sky

when shall it arrive?

manna from heavan
parachute maize

doing what we can

cheating an empty stomach
saying the Lords prayer

  1. this is literally heartbreaking - and unfortunately very reality-based...

  2. Evocative reflection, Martin. At the very least, painful.

  4. I like this Martin, very poignant. IMHO, sure if the term "soup scum" works. I know the point you are trying to make, but never have heard it phrased that way before. I read it first as soap scum, and had to re-read. Perhaps a different word than "scum."
